Shake it once and the sand is gone. Our evil eye beach towel is a traditional Turkish peshtemal, woven from 100% Turkish cotton to sit light on your shoulder, dry quickly between swims and roll into any beach bag. Take it to the shore, the pool or a hotel balcony, and it comes home ready for the next trip.
This evil eye beach towel is a flat-woven Turkish cotton peshtemal that sheds sand, dries fast and folds flat for travel.
The evil eye has been worn and gifted around the Mediterranean for centuries as a symbol of protection and good fortune. Choose from three designs: classic black for striking contrast, vivid blue for a fresh coastal feel, or orange in a retro sun-and-eye motif inspired by classic Turkish artisan design. Each one makes a meaningful evil eye gift.
Why Turkish Beach Towels Shed Sand
Terry towels trap sand and water in their thick loops. A peshtemal, the traditional flat-woven Turkish cotton beach towel, has a smooth surface that sand slides right off, which is why it’s known as a sand-free beach towel. Air moves through the cotton too, so it doubles as a quick-dry pool towel or travel wrap.

Get To Know YOUR Turkish beach towels
A Turkish beach towel, traditionally called a peshtemal, is a flat-woven cotton towel made on Turkish looms, finished with hand-knotted tassels. It has no terry loops, so it stays lightweight, folds flat, and dries much faster. Ours are woven in Turkey from 100% Turkish cotton.
Yes. Turkish cotton is a long-staple fiber, so it pulls in water quickly even in a thin weave. A new towel can feel crisp on the first use — after two or three washes the fibers open up and it becomes noticeably more absorbent and softer.
35.5″ × 79″ (90 × 200 cm) — longer than a standard 30″ × 60″ beach towel, so you can lie down fully without your feet in the sand, and still fold it smaller than a terry towel.
The flat weave has no loops for sand to lodge in, so a quick shake sheds most of it — which is why they're often called sand-free beach towels. Shake it out while dry for best results.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and tumble dry low, or hang dry to protect the tassels. Skip fabric softener — it coats the cotton fibers and reduces absorbency. Wash before first use to soften the weave and set the color.
